What are Ocular Allergies?

An ocular allergy, also called allergic conjunctivitis, happens when a foreign substance (an allergen) irritates the delicate membrane covering your eye, known as the conjunctiva.¹ Your immune system “overreacts” to the allergen, triggering an inflammatory reaction that causes red, itchy and teary eyes.¹

How common are ocular allergies?

About 30% of people suffer from allergic symptoms, and 40% to 80% of them have eye symptoms.²
